A Voice for the People
Clarissa Nickerson Fourman was born and raised in Champaign. Her main focus since being appointed to the Champaign City Council in 2015 has been improving the lives of the people in her district by advocating for improvements including streetlights (Bradley & Willis pedestrian lighting), security cameras, the drainage project in Garden Hills, affordable housing options, and jobs in District 1 such as the new Costco warehouse.
As a a strong independent voice, Clarissa is concerned about quality of life issues for all of Champaign. She works tirelessly to maintain property values, maintain neighborhood integrity and to wisely direct the investment of taxpayer dollars.
Clarissa, and family, including six children – ranging from pre-K to a recent high school graduate – live in the Garden Hills neighborhood. She grew up in local foster homes and is proud to have been elected as a voice for the people on the Champaign City Council.

How Clarissa became a Voice for the People
Clarissa Nickerson Fourman has deep roots in the community. Born and raised in local foster homes and becoming a mother at 15, Clarissa has first hand knowledge of the resources available in the community and why those needs still matter today.
Clarissa attended Centennial High School in Champaign. Clarissa obtained her GED at age 16, to care for her young son. Clarissa has worked in the legal field for 15 years. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Roosevelt University in 2012.
Clarissa was appointed to represent District 1 in June 2015. She was elected to a full 4-year term in April 2017. Clarissa has served the citizens of District 1 for 6 years. While many great things have been accomplished, there is still work to be finished in District 1 and for the citizen's who need a voice in city government that represents them.

Clarissa is married to Randall. They have six children ranging in ages pre-k to recent high school graduate. They reside in the Garden Hills neighborhood.
